Niki Lauda is the only driver to have won a title in both a Ferrari and a McLaren — 1975 and 1977 in red, either side of the Nürburgring crash that nearly killed him, then 1984 in the Marlboro red-and-white MP4/2. All three came in a red car: McLaren raced in Marlboro colours from 1974 to 1996 and did not return to papaya until 2017. He is on both lists and no one else is: see the McLaren chart. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren's 2008 champion, has driven for Ferrari since 2025.
The shaded bands on the chart are the first group: runs of five seasons or more in which Ferrari won neither championship. Single-championship gaps are listed after them only where they differ — and no constructors' gap does, because every one of Ferrari's has been total. That is not true of every team: McLaren's 25-year constructors' drought was broken mid-way by Hamilton's 2008 drivers' title.
